NEVER FORGOTTEN

Mary’s Garden Nonprofit Organization proposes the development of the Veteran Public Memorial Garden, a permanent public memorial and educational space designed to honor veterans who gave their lives in service to the United States. The project will transform a 90-foot by 177-foot property in the town of Pinewood, South Carolina area into a landscaped memorial destination where families, veterans, students, educators, and community members can gather, learn, reflect, and preserve the stories of those who served.
This FUTURE project will construct a new, commercial-quality residential duplex designed specifically to provide safe, stable, affordable housing for two disabled veterans and their families. Each household will occupy an independent three-bedroom, two-bathroom unit. The project is designed to address an important gap in the community: veterans and veteran families who have served our nation but are experiencing homelessness, housing instability, disability, or significant financial hardship. Mary’s Garden intends to establish a housing model that combines safe housing, affordability, dignity, stability, and community support. The project will not simply provide a roof over a veteran and his/her family’s head. It will create an environment in which veteran families can stabilize their lives, maintain independence, and work toward long-term housing security.
